My Brain Child of the Season

Me and good friend Josh Sheuerman headed out last Saturday and spent all day digging and building this super creative idea I had. I could safely say it's the most creative thing I have ever done snowboarding so far. The idea stemmed after last weeks session on some similars roof gaps.

The Setup:

15' gap to the roof to a 12' quarter and a log jam coming back off the roof.

The Goal:

Gap to air to fakie on the quarter to switch 50-50 the log jam out.

The Results:

Banged out the goal within a handful of tries. Got some more sick shots. Decided to go big and front three the gap, missed the quarter and had a near death experience... Read more below.

Some shots! Sick Mute.

And on to the quarter for a big air to fakie.

Ending the goal of my brain child with a switch 50-50 across and out of the roof.

And now for the almost season ender sequence.... First is the take off of the front three.

And mid over the gap sucked up and grabbed stale fish.

Landing blind.

Turned to see where I was and this is when it all went wrong. I missed the quarter. On the backside of this is at least a 20' drop to flat. There is a light post about a foot out from the roof edge and down a couple feet with a light that has four sharp corners. In the last split second I knew I was done for and popped as much as I could to miss the light but not over shoot into the three aspens after it. It spun me backside and off access over the light post barely missing it. Look closely and you can see I have my eyes on the landing and light post the whole time trying to judge the fall and impact.

I then continued backwards on my back straight to the ground where I landed with my right leg next to one aspen and my head inches away from another. You can see how close I was to seriously injuring myself. Josh checked to see if I was ok, took my board off my feet and then ran up to take a picture of the damage and how close I came to ending it. Where I'm lying is exactly where I landed.

Right here I'm just in disbelief that I didn't get hurt and managed to miss the light post. Divine intervention...

I'll have the footy up by next week. It's even more wild then the pictures...

Getting Creative!

Every once and a while I get these really good ideas. Granted they don't happen often but when they do they're usually pretty fun. In the last part of the video posted below you can see a gap to roof to woop section I thought of. We spent about 4.5 hours building it, waited 1.5 hours for TROCK to bring us some salt cause we forgot it and then 3 hours riding it. This idea has sparked bigger ideas that I've been lying awake at night thinking about. The next idea will take a full day of building and then come back the following day to shoot it. It'll be worth it though and I got a few brosephs to come help. Josh Scheuerman, Matt Cohen, and TROCK will all be in attendance. Stay tuned...
